Most of us have seen the documentaries on PBS, using a combination of still images, video music and narration. Or perhaps you've seen the "Biography" series on the A&E network. Have you ever thought, "what if there was a documentary about me?" You might think that you'd never be the subject of such a production. These documentaries are reserved for politicians, movie stars, and sports heroes. At one time, this would have been true, but no longer.

What if you, or someone you love, could be presented in the same documentary style as you see in film, or on television? Just imagine, watching a documentary of a family member you were too young to have known. Family and friends are more important to each other than any movie star, or sports legend. You or your loved ones can be the subject of their own documentary.

We can produce a documentary from digital photographs, 35mm slides, video tape, super 8mm, or standard 8mm film, video we capture, or all of these combined. Your still images and precious videos can be preserved on the durable DVD format. Your video might be a "Love Story" for a bride and groom to be viewed at your wedding rehearsal dinner. Or a life chronicle of a loved one.

Preparing Your Photos

Organizing Your Print Photos

In order for us to insure your photos appear in the order you desire, we reccomend numbering your photos. Please do not write of the surface of the image! You can write on the back of your photos with a pencil, or use sticky note labels. We caution against using a pen, as the ink may leak through. If you make a mistake in the numbering order, instead of renumbering them all, just insert the new image(s) with a letter added. For example, 23, 23A, 23B, and so on.

Planning Your Presentation

At a minimum, we suggest at least an opening title, such as "The Love Story of Jane and John". If your presentation is for a wedding celebration, we recommend separating your photos into sections. These sections typically have their own separate piece of background music. The first segment might feature the bride from child to adult, the second segment would feature the same for the groom, and a third section would be photos of the couple together.

Taking Notes

It's helpful to note down a simple outline for your presentation. Here's an example:

Section one:
Title: Jane Marie Doe - Born July 6th 1995

Section two:
Title: John Mark Smith - Born May 12th 1994

This is just a general guideline. Your sections don't necessarily need their own title for example. We do think it is however a nice touch.

Other Considerations

Photos are typically provided in print form. If your pictures are from a digital camera, you may simply rename the files "1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg..." and so on. For those that own a scanner, we caution against scanning print photos yourself. We use high quality photo scanners, and will typically achieve better results. As part of your Montage package, you will receive a CD containing the scanned images. You'll be able to view the images on a computer, or take the disc to a photo shop if you'd like to make additional prints.
